1838 Deed Book – Justice of the Peace John Bird

Whereas by a Treaty between the United States and the Apalachicola Band of Indians made and concluded at Pope’s Fayette County in the territory aforesaid on the 18th day of June one thousand eight hundred & thirty three (1833) by James Gadsden Commissioner on the part of the United States and the Chiefs and Warriors of the said Apalachicola Band of Indians on the part of the said Band by which Treaty the United States stipulated and agreed to grant and convey unto Mulatto King or Vanchachassee and Tuscanne Hajo chiefs of Emathlochee Town for the benefit of themselves, Sub Chiefs and Warriors, a Section and a half of land to each or contiguous quarter and Frantional Section containing a like quantity of acres and whereas it was understood and agreed between the signers of that Treaty, that Yellow Hair should have in consideration of him and his Band emigrating with Blount one section and a half of the above mentioned sections of land and whereas he (Yellow Hair) and Band did emigrate with Blount without receiving or making any disposition of any of the said land.
